    Thesis Summary: Dr. Uday Kumthekar’s dissertation explores the application of cost accounting in the banking industry, reviewing past efforts by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and banks in the USA. The study investigates the possibilities of adopting Activity Based Costing in banking and develops a system for allocating overheads to estimate branch profitability. Additionally, it conceptualizes a set of cost audit rules based on guidelines issued by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICWAI).
